Limestone desulfurization process
Limestone desulfurization is a commonly used flue gas desulfurization technology used to reduce the emission of sulfur dioxide in combustion gases generated by energy sources such as coal or fuel. The following are the basic principles and process steps of limestone desulfurization:
Limestone grinding: Crushing and grinding limestone to make its particles small and increase the reaction surface area.
Limestone slurry: Mix crushed limestone with an appropriate amount of water to form limestone slurry.
Absorption tower: Spray limestone slurry into the absorption tower, and the combustion waste gas passes through the tower body from bottom to top, reacting with the limestone slurry.
Reaction: In the absorption tower, sulfur dioxide reacts with calcium hydroxide (Ca (OH) 2) in the limestone slurry to form gypsum.
Product treatment: The generated gypsum flows out of the absorption tower in the form of a suspension along with the exhaust gas, and enters the subsequent solid-liquid separation device for gypsum separation and treatment.
Recycling and waste liquid treatment: Some limestone slurry and gypsum suspension will reflux from the separation device to the absorption tower for recycling. Waste liquid needs to be treated to meet environmental standards.
